Cusco is one of the most popular cities in Peru. It is not only a great base to visit Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley of the Incas (Valle Sagrado), or to do treks, but in itself is just a beautiful city, filled with the spirit of history. In addition to exploring the city, definitely it is worth to see how it looks like from the top. Below you will find some extra tips about the best viewpoints in Cusco.
In my opinion, some of the best viewpoints (mirador) from which you can enjoy the city in all its glory are:
- statue of White Christ (Cristo Blanco)
- Limbo Resto & Bar
First of all, take a walk towards Saksaywaman, complex of Inca ruins, situated at an altitude of about 3600 meters above sea level. Hence, you will have the opportunity to see the magnificent panorama of Cusco and to get the knowledge about majestic Inca ruins.
While visiting Saksaywaman you cannot forget to pass through located nearby on the hill (10 minutes walking from the ruins of Saksaywaman) statue of White Christ (Cristo Blanco). This is another viewpoint from which also you will have a spectacular view of the city. At night the statue is illuminated in white, so it is also worth to visit that place during the evening.
If you do not have the desire or time on an evening expedition in the above mentioned places, as an ideal viewpoint I can recommend Limbo Resto & Bar. Bar itself is very nice and the view from inside (the inside is built with glass walls), is breathtaking. Here you can not only soak up the beautiful views of Cusco, but also eat and drink something delicious. This is the perfect place to relax, meet with friends and enjoy the panorama of the city. Important is also that the bar has a terrace, so you can enjoy the view not only from its interior but also from outside. Limbo Bar & Restaurant is located in the district of San Blas, so to see the city from the top, you do not have to go to Saksaywaman or statue of White Christ (what is nice to do of course, but takes more time to get there). In addition, slightly above Limbo Bar & Restaurant there is a public viewpoint, looking like a terrace too. If you will pass through the bar, make an extra effort and go 2-3 minutes more up, to check also that mirador.
